Seniors for Seniors
Finding the Right Home for Senior Pets
At WCGHS our goal is to increase the adoptability of senior animals through programs such as our Senior Cat Adoption Initiative (SCAI) Program. The SCAI Program allows the WCGHS to provide a decreased adoption fee for adopters over the age of 60 when they choose to adopt a senior cat. We are the only shelter in the Washougal/Camas area that takes a special interest in placing senior animals.
Upon approval of the adoption and payment of a $40 fee, the WCGHS will deliver the cat to the senior’s home and provide a carrier, litter, dry and wet food, PetSmart coupons, microchip, and all available medical history. This program aims to place cats that are over five years of age, or younger cats with special needs such as restricted diets, medical issues, or environmental restrictions, in the homes of senior citizens that are seeking a companion animal. By placing senior pets with senior citizens, we hope to reduce the number of senior animals in our shelter and help address the need of senior cats in our community.
If you are interested in adopting an animals through our Seniors for Seniors program, please fill out an adoption application and let us know.
