Every homeless animal deserves a chance to thrive in a loving home. Each year we reduce animal homelessness through adopting hundreds of cats and dogs into loving environments as well as through promoting spay and neuter programs.

Wanna Help?

The WCGHS Youth Volunteer Heroes Program is designed to get children involved with animal welfare in a fun, educational way. Individual children and groups can get involved with helping animals in need through fundraising, creating toys for the animals, collecting donated items from our Amazon Wish List and promoting the West Columbia Gorge Humane Society to family and friends. Each of these activities help our animals by making their stay at the shelter more fun and helping get these furry friends adopted!

To be a WCGHS Youth Hero, download the Youth Hero Packet and contact our Volunteer Youth Coordinator, Rochelle Ramos, at to get started.

Our shelter dogs would also really ENJOY these hand-made fleece tug toys, click on the picture to learn how to make them. A very easy project but it’s a good idea to have an adult help you with this activity!
