Pets. People. Community.

West Columbia Gorge Humane Society (WCGHS) is an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, animal shelter located in Washougal, Washington. Established in 1994, our programs and services are carried out by a small staff and over 100 volunteers who are dedicated to the welfare of animals in need from our community and beyond. Hundreds of animals and people are the recipients of our compassionate care and assistance each year.

Ways To Get Involved

Adopt a Pet

WCGHS works hard to find homes for every pet.
Our adoption counselors will work with you to make sure you and your new pet are the right fit.

Make a Donation

As an independent non-profit organization, West Columbia Gorge Humane Society relies on donations from animal lovers like you to continue our lifesaving mission. Every dollar helps save lives.

West Columbia Gorge Humane Society is an organization which runs mainly through the efforts of volunteers — people who give their time to support and carry out our mission. Individuals and families willing to give a few hours will find that their skills and talents make a huge difference.

Help us save lives by providing a temporary, loving and restful retreat for animals in need. We provide all of the supplies, food and medical attention, so there is no cost to you as a foster parent… all you provide is love! When an animal needs some time to recover from a sickness or injury – or just needs to be socialized – we depend on our network of foster homes.

Together, we are committed to:

Ensuring the Health and Wellbeing of Animals
Providing Quality Shelter Veterinary Services
Offering Assistance in the Event of an Emergency
Helping Pets and Their People Stay Together

The members of the Humane Southwest Network, who provide animal welfare services throughout Southwest Washington, have come together to form a partnership dedicated to raising the standard of care for animals in our region. By working together collaboratively, our organizations run more efficiently; our missions have greater collective impact; and we serve as better, stronger advocates for animals and their families.
